The problem for PETA is shtreimels, a common sight among ultra-Orthodox Jews of European descent. Pictured here, the shtreimel is a hat trimmed with sable fur worn mostly by Orthodox married men on the Sabbath, Jewish holidays and festive occasions.

I love PETA demonstrations: we are treated to bare rumps; leafy coverings a la Garden of Eden; naked women showering on the streets of New York, and even celebrity nudes.

I have to tell you, I'm a little disappointed with PETA's latest protest, "I'd Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur" in Hollywood - August 20, 2007.
Speak plainly; if you mean you'd rather go barely naked than wear fur, say that. But what's the point of a bare-assed lie? Or nearly bare, that is.
